Onsen Spa in KL
What is Onsen Spa?
A Japanese word, onsen, which is translated to ‘hot water spring’ in English is a natural hot spring bath. It is well recognised in Japan because the country has a lot of volcanic activity.
Geothermally heated beneath the ground, onsen water bubbles to the surface. The water must include at least one of the 19 recognised chemical elements that naturally occur in hot spring water, and it must be at least 25 degrees Celsius when it emerges from the earth to be considered an authentic onsen. Rotenburo is another term for an outdoor onsen that you may hear in Japan, which is a favourite among people. Lucky for us Malaysians as we get to experience the onsen spa in KL!
Benefits of Onsen Spa
- Helps to reduce stress and sleep better
The natural or tranquil atmosphere of most ‘onsen’ can help calm your mind and alleviate stiff muscles. After leaving the hot spring, your body soon cools, allowing you to relax and fall deeper asleep.
- Improves Blood Circulation
Natural ingredients in ‘onsen’ water, such as sodium bicarbonate and calcium, are absorbed into our bodies when you dip yourself into it. The minerals will then help to boost blood flow and oxygen levels in your body.
- Treats Skin Problem
Mineral properties vary between onsen. Many onsen are known to be skin beautifiers because some hot springs contain silica, which helps moisturise and soften dry and rough skin. Sulphur-containing onsen has been advised for people with eczema and psoriasis.
- Relieve Pain
The Japanese believe that onsen, depending on its mineral characteristics and content, has healing powers. The high heat of the bathing experience dampened our feeling of pain considerably. Besides, the onsen water also acts as a source of buoyancy for aching joints.
