Now with the Covid-19 outbreak and MCO (Movement Control Order) period implemented by the government, most of us have to work from home. Many of us are not used to it and are finding it challenging to work from home as there can be many distractions like the tv. Also, our bed keeps calling us!
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with some tips for working from home. Hope this helps you as much as it helped us.
1. Avoid working on your bed
Find a comfortable spot where you can work with minimal distractions. Definitely avoid the couch and your bed! This can help you focus better while doing your work.
2. Have a routine
Try waking up at a certain time every day. Start your day with a to-do list if you want to work from home productively. Oh, believe us, this helped us a lot while working from home as it helps us to get things done especially when we have deadlines. Most of us dive into work with our PJs, admit it but hey, it won’t hurt to freshen up, make a cup of coffee or tea, have a nutritious breakfast before starting work.
3. Take frequent breaks
Set some time off between work, take a walk around the house, get some fresh air from your garden. You are allowed to take breaks. Rest if you need to. We understand that it’s easy to get distracted while taking breaks. You just gotta have some self-discipline.
4. Stay hydrated
Keep a bottle of water where you work so you don’t need to walk up and down to the kitchen to get some water. It is recommended that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Avoid dehydration as it can cause you to feel fatigued.
5. Munch on healthy snacks
Prepare healthy snacks such as nuts, fresh fruits, vegetable chips or raisins for you to munch during your working hours. This is one way to stay healthy while working from home.
6. Interact with other people
This is one way to keep you sane. You are allowed to interact with other people through technology. Talk to your coworkers, spend time with your loved ones if they’re at home with you.
7. Time management
Try not to overwork, set some time aside after work to do some physical activity or do the things you love such as reading a book or watching a movie. Have a work-life balance so you don’t overwork yourself.
Now, we know it can be difficult at times to work at home when there’s plenty of distractions and such. All you need is discipline and with the right mindset, you’re off to a good start!
