Libraries in KL
We understand that sometimes you just need a change of air instead of being pent up in the same place for an extended period of time. Although cafes may be on your mind right now, you should try the library instead. Some of them are free, and you can even be at peace while you’re there! 1. KL Library

The beauty of many books cover with so much knowledge in them are absolutely beautiful, and we love how you can work at this library in KL among the towering shelves. Long tables and comfortable sofas are available to make your stay longer, but if you would rather be alone, they also have snug nooks where you may be by yourself. Additionally, there are enjoyable activities like interactive tables, a games area, and even a movie room for when you need a break!

2. National Library of Malaysia
The National Library, which is situated along the busy Jalan Tun Razak, is stunning from the exterior due to its brilliant roof tiles that resemble the designs of the local handwoven fabric known as kain songket. Additionally, it is jam-packed with a wide range of archives and resources that are difficult to locate at many other libraries, such as copies of vintage newspapers, magazines, and other periodicals. Therefore, if you’re on a quest for knowledge while at work, this library in KL is the one to go to!

3. The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) Library
Explore the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur Library if you’re interested in learning more about different cultures. Not only will you get to experience a tatami-floored Japanese environment there, but you’ll also get to read fiction, literature, magazines, and a wide variety of manga, all of which will help you learn more about Japanese culture. The public is welcome to use this library in KL at any time!

4. TTDI Library
The TTDI library in KL, which was renovated and reopened back in 2019, welcomes visitors with a new motif of vibrant colours and illustrated walls. Although the libraries are intended for adults, they went to considerable lengths to redesign the space for children.
A PS4 lounge that is exclusively available on the weekends, a movie room, interactive tables, and egg-shaped audio recliners have been added to the recently remodelled library in addition to books. You’ll adore this library that makes you feel just like home.

5. Bukit Damansara Community Library
The building on Jalan Beringin in Damansara Heights is not the White House. It is, in fact, a community library in KL. Bukit Damansara Community Library, which opened in March 2013, provides books for both children and adults with a children’s corner, reading rooms, a meeting room and an IT corner provided.
Also, they included a special collection of works by the late Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid, the former Chief Secretary to the Government who was praised for his dedication in protecting P. Ramlee’s musical legacy for generations to come.

6. Rumah Attap Library & Collective
Founded in 2017, Rumah Attap Library and Collective is set in a row of shophouses from the 1950s that have been rehabilitated. In addition to being one of the libraries in KL, it serves as a gathering place for the community where people can talk about books, swap them, and hold regular activities including book readings, workshops, and forums.
You will be pleased by the work and care put into constructing Rumah Attap Library & Collective. Despite its modest size, this library houses over 35,000 books.

7. Pustaka KL at Setiawangsa
A public library in KL called Pustaka KL at Setiawangsa is situated in Wangsa Maju. Positive evaluations have been given to this library for its cosy and spotless surroundings as well as its extensive book collections, which include newspapers like Sin Chew Jit Po and The Star. Pustaka KL @ Setiawangsa is an excellent location for reading, research, working, and learning because it is fully air-conditioned, making it a cosy place to be at.

8. Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Library, ISTAC
International Islamic University Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur is home to the Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Library. There is a significant collection of Islamic and Malay global literature on display in this six-floor library in KL, including rare manuscripts and atlases.
It provides access to online resources as well as study spaces, meeting spaces, audio-visual spaces, photocopying, printing, and scanning services. Anyone with an interest in Islam and Malaysia must visit the library!

9. Perpustakaan 1 Wilayah Persekutuan @ Medan Idaman
Perpustakaan 1 Wilayah Persekutuan is one of the libraries in KL that is clean, serene, and welcoming. There are plenty of newly published and fascinating books to read in the well-kept library. With welcoming and helpful staff, there is also a specific section just for kids as well as a little library for them. It’s a terrific location to study or unwind with a book because of how peaceful and cosy the atmosphere is.

10. Perpustakaan Dr Abdul Latiff UKM
For book enthusiasts, the Dr. Abdul Latiff Library (PDAL) is one of the best public libraries in KL. The Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Pharmacy of UKM Kuala Lumpur Campus are served by PDAL, which was founded in 1974. In keeping with the university’s goals for teaching, learning, and research, the library is divided into three levels and contains a collection of books, articles, and other resources on topics such as medicine, health sciences, and dentistry.
