Getting the right skincare products can be quite a difficult journey – it’s all about endless trial and error.
Made specifically to solve the struggles for those with sensitive skin types face, The Speak Collective decided to produce products that are made with plant-based ingredients.
What Makes The Speak Collective Special?
All of the products contain no parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrance and artificial color. They are truly transparent about the ingredients used in every product, which can be found on their labels.
Are The Products Only Suitable For Sensitive Skin?
Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, these products would work great for any skin type, as shown by many positive reviews all around the world!
I (one of the team members) had the chance to try out some of their skincare products.
Here’s My Verdict!
1. Prickly Pear Seed Facial Oil
Overall benefits: helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, dark under-eye circles, balances the skin’s oil production
Verdict: Although those with oily/combination skin may hesitate to put on any facial oil, this doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily at all. In fact, it absorbs right into your skin! And yes, it does its job well by moisturizing the skin.
2) Rosehip + Carrot Facial Oil
Overall benefits: creates an ageless appearance, provides moisture, balances natural oils and fade marks
Verdict: One thing I noticed after using it for a while, my skin felt really soft. It doesn’t leave any oily feeling either! Sometimes I combine it with my moisturizer too.
3) Oat + Lavender Cleansing Powder
Overall benefits: removes dirt, grime, dead skin cells and cleans face without over-drying while retaining skin’s natural moisture levels
Verdict: I never tried cleansing powder before, so I wasn’t sure how it’ll feel. One thing’s for sure, I might consider using this long term. Why? Once I started using this cleansing powder, it just felt really…. natural. And even after I used it for a few weeks, there was still a lot left in the bottle! Unlike the gel cleansers that I usually use which doesn’t last that long.
Plus, you could use it as a mask too! I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m sure it’ll feel really refreshing!
4) Cocoa + Calendula Lip Balm
Overall benefits: moisturizes the lips and acts as a protective barrier against dryness
Verdict: I’ve been having really bad dry lips nowadays. My lips rarely cracked when I used this lip balm during the day, though! The only thing I didn’t quite like is the push-pop mechanism (a little hard to push it up!)
5) Lavender + Jojoba Deodorant Cream
Overall benefits: replenishes moisture and protects against odor
Verdict: Personally, I’ve never tried a deodorant cream before so I was a little sceptical about this. But once I’ve put it on, the first thing I thought of was ‘how did I not consider trying this way earlier?!’.
It doesn’t leave any sticky or wet feeling, and there was zero pain too (I avoid using sprays because it hurt my armpits). It pretty much lasted the whole entire day as well, with no body odour present!
The only downside about this is that I have to use my hands when putting it on, so there’s an extra step to take by washing it off from your hands.
Overall, I really liked the products I’ve tried so far. It could be because everything is natural, so my skin felt really refreshed, smooth and clear. No pimples in sight, too!
