Do you have a weak immune system? There are several ways that can help you boost your immune system. A good and strong immune system can help to reduce the risk of falling ill as well as fight bacteria and viruses.
1. Minimize stress
We all have some sort of stress which could be from work, school/university, relationships and so on. One way we can relieve stress is by meditating or practicing yoga. If it isn’t your cup of tea, try listening to soothing music or music that you enjoy.
2. Exercise regularly
Exercise can also be a way to combat stress as it helps to reduce our stress hormones such as cortisol and helps release our happy hormones called endorphins. Moderate exercise has anti-inflammatory effects that boost your immune system. Exercise is good for you, however you should not overdo it.
3. Drinking sufficient water
Staying hydrated is one of the keys to having a good immune system. Water has endless benefits and we cannot emphasize enough on how important drinking sufficient water is. By staying hydrated, your body naturally eliminates toxins and bacteria that might cause illness. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated.
4. Maintaining a balanced diet
Getting a good source of protein is vital for strengthening the immune system as it helps to build and repair body tissue and fight viral and bacterial infections. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to ensure you’re getting enough vitamins and minerals. Nuts and seeds also help in boosting your immunity as they are rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B, E and zinc. Besides that, try adding yoghurt to your diet as well as this is good for your gut health. It supports the good bacteria in your body which will help fight off bad bacteria or viruses. Having a balanced diet also helps those that have HIV or STD. If you’re sexually active but don’t check yourself using a HIV test kit Malaysia regularly, you could potentially put yourself at risk.
5. Getting the right supplements
Supplementation is not necessary if you’re eating a well balanced diet. However, if you’re not getting sufficient nutrients from your diet, supplements may be useful. For instance, if you’re not getting sufficient good bacteria from your diet (eg, yoghurt), you may get probiotics from your local pharmacy.
